Annual Consultative Meeting

The BCU Lifeguard committee is pleased to announce the date and time of the 2015 Annual Consultative Meeting (ACM).

It will be held on the 19th September at 1830 hrs. For the first time in the history of the Committee the meeting will be held over conference and video links rather than face to face. This will mean those not able to attend the meeting in person will still be able to partake.

This is to tie in with the two training sessions that are also being held the same day at Gosport and Liverpool.

At this stage the following roles are up for election;

  • Secretary

  • Lifeguard Officer

  • Treasurer

  • Individual members

The Chairman, Development Officer and First Aid Officer are due next year as part of the two year cycle.

Nominations for the above Officer roles should be received by the Secretary 7 days before the meeting (12th September) via email (admin@bculifeguards.org.uk). Please title your email “ACM – Nomination”. Nomination should be supported by a proposer and seconder.

Dial in and video conference details will be published nearer the time for the meeting along with an Agenda and details of any nominations received.

If details of the training sessions are required please request details for either the Liverpool or Gosport seesions via info@bculifeguards.org.uk.

Guidance to clubs published

The BCU Lifeguards have recently published guidance to clubs that provide safety cover to open water swimming activities such as swim/triathlon events or at open water swimming training venues.

The guidance is designed to provide clubs with a framework to work within to help ensure both they, their members and the activity organiser are fully aware of their responsibilities, and to ensure best practice is followed in the planning and implementation of the activity.

ACM, Club Forum & SESA Trainer’s Update Announced

The BCU Lifeguards have announced the date of the 2014 ACM, which is to be held on Saturday 18th October 2014.

The ACM will be held at 13:30.

To maximise the time, a SESA Trainer’s update will be held in the morning of the 18th (09:00 – 12:30) and the ACM will be immediately followed by a Club Forum.

The venue for all three meetings will be the Holiday Inn Express Gloucester South, M5 Jct 12, Telford Way, Quedgeley, Gloucester, GL2 2AB

The ACM is open to all who have an interest in BCU Lifeguards.
