Coach Updates

Some of the courses on offer over the weekend are automatically recognised as British Canoeing Coach Updates – please check the list here. Others may well be, but will require coaches to complete a self-assessment form for consideration by the coaching department. This form can be found here.

Saturday Evening and Social BBQ

Join us for an evening BBQ and drinks, BC lifeguards will provide the BBQ and you guys provide the fun. Please let BC lifeguards know if you have any special dietary requirements.

Accommodation

Bunk house accommodation is available at the venue, on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping is also available. Accommodation is included free of charge when attending any of the courses or workshops being held over the weekend, but must be booked in advance.

Cost

The weekend is being run and funded largely by the Lifeguards Committee. A £15 contribution is being asked for from attendees for the weekend. Some certificated courses do also attract additional certification fees which are advised on the information for each course.

As part of the online booking process, you will be able to pay the £15 online via PayPal. If you are a member of an affiliated Lifeguard unit/club, you may select the ‘Club Payment’ option and the National Committee will make arrangements to collect this money directly from your club.

For those only attending the SESA trainer Orientation Day and do not require accommodation in the bunk house (or camping space) no charge will be applied. To enable you to book your space on the workshop, please proceed through the online booking form and select Club Payment as the payment method and then enter the code ‘STO’ when prompted.

Booking is essential

We really do require all those attending to book online in advance, to ensure we can organise the weekend in an efficient manner. Spaces for each session are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

SESA Trainer Orientation

This session is aimed at BC coaches that hold a valid SESA award that are looking to become a SESA trainer or SESA trainers looking to gain Tutor status, we will cover the Swim Event Safety Award and the key delivery points. It will be a workshop style showing different ways of running the course. After this day it is envisaged candidates will be able to head strait to an assessment. Please contact info.bculifeguards.org.uk to discuss further before booking on to this day.
